NEI was hired as the Consulting Engineer to design a 345kV to 138kV Substation. The project consisted of the complete civil and electrical design for a 2x448MVA substation with three 345kV breakers and nine 138kV breakers. The most unusual aspect of this project was that it was situated over an abandoned coal mine requiring significant changes in the civil design to avoid future settlement problems.
