Keith Malmedal, Ph.D.
Principal Engineer

Mr. Malmedal graduated Summa cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics Engineering Technology focusing on communications techniques from Metropolitan State College of Denver in 1995. He also received his Masters degree in EE (power option) at the University of Colorado at Denver in 1998 as well as his Masters in Civil Engineering in 2002. Prior to joining NEI, his six years of engineering experience had been concentrated in the field of commercial and industrial power distribution design at low and medium voltages. He has experience in short circuit studies, protection design, commercial lighting design, and fire alarm system design. He has knowledge of code compliance issues pertaining to the National Electrical Code, Uniform Building Code, Uniform Fire Code, National Fire Protection Association part 72, and various municipal building and electrical codes. He has also done forensic engineering work.

Keith has designed the Electrical systems for numerous Distributive Generation projects ranging in size from 150kW to 300MW. Keith has worked with Utilities across the United States on interconnects and is experienced with California Rule 21 and Nevada Rule 15 compliance.

Keith is a Registered Professional Engineer in the States of Colorado, California, Alabama, Alaska, Delaware, Nevada, New Mexico, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Illinois, West Virginia, and Texas.
